To the largemouth bass fisherman, these tips for bass fishing are for you. The largemouth bass record has stood unchallenged for quite a while. For the past 25 years there has been a race to catch the next world record largemouth bass. Although there have been a few close calls amongst record hunters, the 22 pound 4 ounce record caught by George Perry in 1932 has yet to be officially broken. Recently, there have been a few record size fish caught that have not been officially documented, and therefore, are not recognized as the true record. Without a doubt, there will be no fish "more scrutinized" than the next world record largemouth bass. Proof of this lies in recent and past attempts at record fish submissions. Although a fish has a very low chance of being accepted as the new world record without proper documentation, there will always be someone that enters a fish that has a very questionable pedigree. The last submission attempt regarding an all class world record is a prime example. It came from a lake in Japan and has been all the rage on You Tube and various other social networking sites. The bass is definitely a largemouth and the bass is huge. Yet the verification process takes this monstrous largemouth out of the running for any legalized shot at the world record. This is for many reasons the first being that the fish has gone beyond the allowable time frame for the IGFA committee. This may seem an unfair advantage to the rest of the world and leaning towards the US and it's bevy of bass fanatics. How fair is the rule? Very. If the IGFA did not concern itself with a very strict and solid set of rules and regulations, the record would have been hacked a long time ago. The committee is there for a reason, and the world of fishing is the better for that strength. A great tip for attempting to catch the world record bass of your dreams can be found in the most unlikely of places: the smallest ponds. These bass ponds tend to be in the middle of nowhere - they are numerous throughout North America, and they house very aggressive bass who will strike a larger variety of colors and lures. They also provide very little cover and protection so chances are you will find the biggest and toughest "Alpha" largemouth bass on the first few cast. The best way to find bass ponds in your area is to grab a topographical map and start hunting. Make it into a sort of game that ends with you discovering the long lost lake of the elders. Get a topographical or aerial map of your favorite fishing spots and just exploring. Once you've put into practice these bass fishing tips and techniques you'll be on your way to bagging trophy bass nearly every time you cast! Now go out there and get the next world record largemouth bass, the right way. For more information about perfecting your bass fishing techniques visit http://www.bassfishingtechniquesonline.com.
